SOG originated from the name of a secret military special forces unit, Studies and Observations Group, during the Vietnam War. This elite unit always carries out arduous and dangerous missions, known as the mysterious unit in the Vietnam War, and is a secret combat unit under the US Marine Corps Special Forces SF Unit. SOG combat knives are specifically designed for this elusive special operations team, named after the Students and Observation Group abbreviation SOG in honor of this unit. SOG brand was founded in 1986, and its first product was a practical folding knife. Later, with the innovative design of founder Spencer Fraezr and numerous tactical consultants, a series of practical tools such as pliers, straight knives, folding knives, and field axes were launched.
SOG BAR15T is a big boy. Following the design philosophy of modern Tantos, the blade has been sharpened from the front to the top tip for trimming. The main edge of the black traction coated blade is flat ground, measuring 5.2 inches in length, with a quarter of the back edge ground to enhance penetration. The 4.8-inch handle includes a straight handguard and a hardware mounting device that can be installed as a bayonet. The main handle is made of black engineering plastic material, with a series of curved grooves on the top surface and a pyramid shaped pattern tilted on the sides. The BAR15T weighs 19.2 ounces and comes with a MOLLE adaptable folding sheath, which includes black nylon and leather strap accessories.
